The Long Game: Building the Future of Premji Invest

At Premji Invest, we don’t answer to LPs on three-year fund cycles. We answer to a foundation built to exist in perpetuity. That changes everything—how we invest, how we build, and who we choose to build with.

For us, hiring is not an exercise in coverage or scale. Each person who joins us reflects a deliberate choice about the future we are building together. As Premji Invest enters its next chapter, I am pleased to welcome three new colleagues—Marc Martin Casas, Jake Epstein, and Aidan Pak—who reflect the values and judgment we believe matter over decades, not quarters.

A Truth-Seeking Discipline

In investing, momentum is seductive. Strong narratives, competitive rounds, and external validation can all create pressure to move faster than understanding warrants. We, on the other hand, are truth-seekers. That identity holds us to a different standard—one that demands patience, intellectual honesty, and the willingness to remain unconvinced longer than others might be comfortable with.

That discipline often requires turning away from opportunities that appear attractive on the surface but do not withstand deeper scrutiny or align with our mandate. Those decisions are rarely easy. They are, however, essential to maintaining integrity—both in our process and in our partnerships.

Our team is intentionally small. That choice reflects a belief that depth of understanding matters more than breadth of exposure. We invest time in engaging deeply with technology, products, and market structures so that our convictions are grounded in reality rather than consensus.

Rigor, Practiced with Care

One of our team’s defining characteristics is the way rigor and kindness coexist in our culture. In an industry that often treats these qualities as opposing forces, we view them as mutually reinforcing.

Rigor ensures that our work is disciplined and exacting. Kindness ensures that it is conducted with respect for founders, partners, and colleagues alike. Over time, this combination builds trust, which enables more honest conversations, sharper analysis, and stronger long-term partnerships. It also creates a working environment where people can challenge one another without eroding mutual respect.

Deep Perspective, Applied

Each of our newest team members brings a distinct lens, shaped by years of focused work and careful thinking.

Marc Martin Casas joins our healthcare investing efforts with a background that spans scientific research and company building. His training as a chemical and biomolecular engineer, combined with experience leading Illumina Ventures Labs, gives him a grounded understanding of how foundational science translates—often imperfectly—into durable companies. That perspective is invaluable in a field where surface-level narratives can obscure underlying complexity.

Jake Epstein joins our early-stage team after roles in both venture investing and product development. His experience at Canaan Partners and as a product manager at Uber has shaped a perspective that prioritizes customer insight and practical utility. Jake approaches technology with a healthy skepticism for hype, focusing instead on whether products meaningfully solve real problems for real users.

Aidan Pak joins our growth equity practice, bringing strong analytical training and a long-term orientation that closely aligns with our approach. With a background in mathematics and computer science, Aidan understands the importance of precision in evaluating businesses at scale. Equally important, he recognizes that numbers are context-dependent—and that judgment remains central even in data-rich environments.

Building for the Long Term

Premji Invest exists to support enduring companies, enduring partnerships, and an enduring mission. That commitment applies equally to our relationships with founders and to the people who choose to build their careers here.

To our co-investors and partners: these are the individuals who will engage deeply, ask hard questions, and stay present through uncertainty. To those considering joining our team: we aim to create an environment where integrity, care, and long-term thinking are not aspirational concepts, but daily practices.

Welcome, Marc, Jake, and Aidan. We look forward to building together.
